In the film, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job - to die for a living. He becomes an "expendable," a replaceable worker whose body is regenerated after each death, retaining most memories. When one of his iterations, Mickey 17, unexpectedly survives a mission, he finds himself in conflict with his successor, Mickey 18.
