Saw X: Movie Review

Saw X Movie Review: Back to Form

Watch this movie right now:

In the past, we always looked forward to the latest "Saw" releases with great anticipation. However, that initial excitement dwindled over time as the franchise churned out disappointing films one after the other. To our surprise, we recently found out that there are already ten films in the franchise with the release of "Saw X", and why not give this franchise another shot? Marking over a decade since we last watched a "Saw" film, revisiting this franchise turned out to be a decision we didn't regret at all.

Set between the events of the first and second films, "Saw X" takes us on a journey with ailing John Kramer (Tobin Bell), who seeks a miracle cure for his cancer in Mexico but falls victim to a medical scam. Fueled by anger towards those who exploited him, Kramer returns with a renewed sense of purpose.

It's unusual to humanize a serial killer, but "Saw X" does so exceptionally well. The film portrays John Kramer in a more relatable and moralistic light than his victims, presenting a character we strangely find ourselves rooting for as he pursues retribution against those who wronged him. When he finally achieves his goals, the satisfaction is palpable. And we must admit, Tobin Bell did a stellar job as Jigsaw once again. "Saw X" takes the franchise to new heights as the gruesome traps and situations had us wincing and looking away in shock, a rarity for us. The film is both disturbing and exhilarating, bringing back the feelings we had for the franchise when we first encountered it over a decade ago. "Saw X" reignited our fascination with the series, reminding us why the original film captured our attention in the first place and hopefully they can use this momentum to bring in another hit in the future.
