Back at it again. After a string of barely watchable but improving films from the past couple weeks, VivaMax regresses back with "Kinsenas, Katapusan". A sexy thriller that has no backbone and no story. Its definitely a film that expects those who pay to watch it to tap that fast forward button nonstop until they reach the next sex scene to the next sex scene.
Ana (Madeleine Red) befriends her new classmate Beth (Ayanna Misola) and invites her to her father Conrado's (Joko Diaz) birthday party. Conrado seems to be an honest and loyal husband on the onset but we soon find out that he is not so innocent and has been having an affair with one of his officemates Karen (Janelle Tee). Upon meeting him at his birthday party, Beth grows a liking to Conrado and starts seducing him online. At first Conrado is hesitant but succumbs to the temptation eventually but at what cost?
You know the film "Orphan" when everyone was shocked to find out that the little girl was actually a grown woman? "Kinsenas, Katapusan" ain't that kind of film even though it "attempts" to be one. But with sex scenes taking the helm, its characters and story are left out to in the dark. For example, we really aren't sure if we the film wants us to like or hate Conrado or console with Beth's dark past. What about Ana and Beth's relationship, shouldn't be conflict there to say the least? Why is Jao Mapa and Angela Morena suddenly showing up out of nowhere? The simple answer is this - they just wanted to do softcore porn while not labeling it as such. It's obvious how the decision-making went: "We need a lesbian sex scene? Let's introduce a character out of nowhere". "We need to get rid of a character fast? Let's let her resign even though she seems to be madly in love with Conrado". This movie at least didn't have ridiculous sex scenarios like the bank heist in "Hugas" but it's the same kind of shitty and lazy writing that we truly deplore. Can't they at least take time to make a real story out of these sex scenes?
