As they say, love comes in the most unexpected of ways. That is the starting point for "PASABUY" - the upcoming WeTV original romantic comedy series centered on one of the biggest lifestyle trends that emerged during the pandemic. Xian Lim does double duty on the project but this time behind the camera as the writer and director. While there is no exact date yet, the series is slated to premiere on WeTV in late September.
Gino Roque is the leading man while cast to play his love interest up-and-coming actress Heaven Peralejo. The 21-year-old PBB alumni came on board after the previously announced female lead star Barbie Imperial was released from the show due to personal issues. Barbie had already taken part in pre-production activities – including announcements on social media, and the initial script-reading with Gino, Xian and the rest of the cast – when the change was made.
"Pasabuy" tells the story of two individuals who find themselves stranded in the same place at the start of the lockdown. Anna (Peralejo) is a young executive while John (Roque) is an artist. They meet at the community chatroom where you can order necessities “pasabuy.” Friendship and possibly love blooms in what could be the most unromantic of settings as they try to power through life and a bevy of emotions to get through each day. The question is, when the pandemic ends and lives go back to normal, was any of it real?
Joining the cast are Ella Cayabyab, MJ Cayabyab, Ralph Malibunas, Gail Banawis, Kim Perez, Nana Silayro, and a special appearance by the rock band I Belong To The Zoo. "Pasabuy" is a WeTV Original concept, co-produced by Forza Productions, that is written and directed by Xian Lim.
