LOOK: Transformers Spin-Off BUMBLEBEE Reveals First Official Photo

Paramount Pictures has just revealed the first-look image of its upcoming spin-off to the "Transformers" franchise "Bumblebee" (also known as "Bumblebee: The Movie). The film is being directed by Travis Knight and stars Hailee Steinfeld and serves as a prequel to the previous films. On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug. Check out the photo below and watch "Bumblebee" in Philippine cinemas soon.

While the franchise has been known for its bloated, gibberish films, director Travis Knight has been involved with "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Coraline" so it's pretty interesting how he could mold this film to have a different vibe from its predecessors. The film also stars Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider and Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

"Bumblebee" is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
