There's no denying that even before its local launch back in 2016, Netflix has been a juggernaut and a total game changer when it comes to content production globally. This year and beyond, Netflix is definitely making a further stake hold with its huge first showing in the just concluded AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 held from August 25-27 at the SMX Convention Center.
Netflix set-up so-called "immersive zones" where fans could experience "being in their" most popular shows. "Riverdale" featured a recreation of Pop's Chock'lit Shop. "Orange is the New Black" gave you a chance to be in your own mugshot - complete in your own orange prison uniform. "Stranger Things" was all out which included the Upside Down, the Byer's Living Room and the Hawkins National Laboratory.
If you wanted to have a more immersive experience, the just-released live adaptation film "Death Note" had their own Virtual Reality jig to suit your taste.
Finally, some of the cast of "Stranger Things" also visited to do a panel interview. Members of the cast that attended are Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery. The AsiaPOP Comicon Manila promotes various art and media forms through the engagement of fans and artists and has been held annually since 2015.
