Coming off the recent teaser poster launch, Universal Pictures has now unveiled the first trailer for "The Mummy". The first portion of the film was gripping and the second half literally action-packed. Although it's still a mystery how or why Tom Cruise survives that plane crash. But what's most surprising is how the overall tone of "The Mummy" remake is a far cry from the rather whimsical into a very dark and serious one.
In the film, thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. On lead is Tom Cruise joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. "The Mummy" is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures and opens locally June 7, 2017.
