'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' 30 Minute Preview - Here are the Details

We just came from the exclusive 30 minute preview of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". The footage has an intro by director Marc Webb and primarily consists of 3 main scenes which are the first 10-15 minutes of the film, an intimate and private talk between Peter Parker and Gwen and lastly, the teaming up of Harry Osborne and Electro. Overall, the preview took our breath away with vibrant and dynamic scenes and each one of those had their own contribution to peak our interests more and more. The action sequences in particular stood out with its great use of 3D and varied shots that take the action right in your face. You can find specifics of each scene below but if you may want to avoid if you don't want to be spoiled.

Scene 1: The Parkers in Trouble; Spider-Man versus Rhino; Peter Parker and Gwen Graduates
The movie opens up with Richard Parker (Campbell Scott) trying to erase his research on spiders and what-not. He loses his access to his lab and is definitely in a hurry to go home. This is where things turn to a familiar territory as Richard Parker with his wife Mary (Embeth Davidz) leave their son Peter with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. The two set off in a private jet as Richard tells his wife that they didn't have any choice as their lives are not safe now and it's not an environment a child should grow up in. This definitely tells us how much Oscorp is willing to go to silence anyone that gets on their way. Richard is trying to upload a file when the co-pilot goes out with bloody hands. A battle ensues and there's an obvious need to finish the file's upload. Right before the plane crashes, Richard is able to upload the file. It is quite obvious that no one survives as the screen fades.

As the screen goes back, we see Spider-man falling. He swings his way around. This is one notable sequence as it shows various shots of Spider-man's acrobatics. There's a chase scene with Rhino (Paul Giamatti) driving a huge truck trying to rob plutonium from an Oscorp truck. Spidey swings his way and shows his cockiness against Rhino. Gwen calls Peter midway and tells him that he needs to go to the graduation ASAP. Part of the chase scene is the first meeting of Spider-Man and Max Dillion (Jamie Foxx) of which there are huge repercussions in the future. The scene ends as Spidey is able to stop Rhino while arriving on time to receive his diploma. The usual Stan Lee cameo happens here near the end.

Scene 2: An Intimate Talk Between Peter and Gwen; Electro Unleashed
The second scene starts with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) walking towards Gwen Stacy. Peter is obviously infatuated with Gwen but it is also slightly revealed that they haven't seen each other for awhile. The talk ends as Gwen reveals that she will study in England as the befuddled Peter leaves to go to Times Square as Spider-man. Clearly, this shows why their relationship seems on the rocks at this point. The next scene concentrates on Electro as he tries to locate the biggest source of electricity in Times Square. He attracts attention as he opens a grill and the cops are all over him in an instant. As he sees himself on every screen around the area, it makes Electro surprised yet obviously happy. Spider-Man arrives and tries to talk to Electro. The sequence from the earlier scene where Max meets Spider-man affects what happens here. As a sniper shoots at Electro and Spider-Man saving cops from being killed, Electro things Spidey has betrayed him and goes on a rampage. In one key scene, he destroys everything within his path. Spidey is able to stop Electro by splashing him with water from a fire truck. The scene ends as Spider-Man tells Gwen that he is having a hard time accepting that she is moving to England.

Scene 3: Harry Osborne Seeks Electro's Help
The scene opens as Harry Osborne (Dane DeHaan) is in a bit of a hurry. He arrives to awaken a Electro and tries to convince him that they must team up to stop Spider-Man. Electro at first hesitates but as Harry is being taken by guards, Electro is finally convinced and shows a new and stunning teleportation ability and kills off everyone.

Opening across the Philippines on April 30, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
