“ONG BAK 2” PUNCHES ITS WAY TO CINEMAS ON AUGUST 19
Can one combine the beauty of dance with the hard-hitting blows of Thai boxing? See the movie that shows this new style of martial arts in “Ong Bak 2”.
In ONG BAK 2, a young man named Tien grows up among villagers who preserve the legacy of the traditional Khon masked dance. He becomes an outcast when he finds that his firm limbs are not made to pursue the skill of his ancestors. But with the guidance of a mysterious guru, he is able to develop a new style of fighting which mixes the strength of martial arts with the regal elegance of Khon dance. Now, he will have to use his skill and ingenuity to exact revenge on the man who killed his parents.
Jaa plays Tien, a man who was born into nobility but had it stripped from him after his parents were brutally murdered. During his childhood Tien learned Khon, a form of dance which is usually reserved for royalty.
The key idea that led to ONG BAK 2 originated from Tony Jaa’s effort to find new approaches for his next film while traveling all over the world to promote his first two films. “Martial arts and action films are the intermediaries that bring people of all races and languages to exchange thoughts and cultures without boundaries,” states Jaa.
The action dream team of co-director Panna Rittikrai, Jaa and Prachya Pinkaew has used the experience from “Ong Bak” and another action flick “Tom Yum Goong” to make an even better screenplay for ONG BAK 2, based on the three key concepts – the fusion of martial arts from all over the world, the introduction of the newly invented Natayuth (martial arts style) and the origin of the scar-faced Buddha, which is an important link between the first Ong Bak and Ong Bak 2. The blending of these three premises helps balance the development of characters and makes a perfect screenplay for an action movie.
Catch the movie that’s kicking up a storm all over the world – "Ong Bak 2" starting August 19, 2009 on all cinemas across the Metro. It is being released by Viva International Pictures.

Hi Neo,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment!
We think Ong Bak 2 is not about mysteries creatures but rather an epic story set in ancient times.
I already have a copy of ongbak 2 in my house, but i hadn't watch it yet, the first ong bak was great, it's a new thing for me to see muay thai in a movie, (were used to seeing much of the karate, taekwondo or aikido). and tony jaa was really great at doing it. I hope ongbak 2 can surpass the first one.
ReplyDeleteHi Raynan,
