Sam Raimi comes out again with another horror film, a genre where he became famous for with the "Evil Dead" series. His success with the "Spiderman" series kept him busy and may have left his fans wishing he’ll do another scary one. Here he is with "Drag Me to Hell", a movie that has been receiving a lot of good reviews even before it came out. We were hoping for a good Hollywood horror movie for quite some time now. Let’s see if "Drag Me to Hell" can deliver.
Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is a loan officer who’s eyeing for the assistant manager position in the bank she’s working for. Because of her desire to win against her competitor, she turns down a mortgage extension from a very old lady. The old lady, in her anger puts a terrible curse on her. This curse, the most powerful of its kind, where a demon will torment her for three days and will take her soul to burn in hell on the fourth. She now needs to fight this curse before it’s too late.
Horror films aim to get everyone inside the movie house screaming, and "Drag Me to Hell" does a good job of adding good sound effects that will put you right in the mood. Even though the movie is very outstanding being a scare-piece, we wouldn’t exactly say that it is a masterpiece overall. Some of the scenes turned out to be funny, instead of making you jump in your seat. Another major boo-boo in this film is Alison Lohman showed very poor, so-so acting. However, we guarantee you that this movie is fun. Sam Raimi is superb when it comes to special effects and he adds some gross factors in the movie, making it more enjoyable. Do not expect a work of art in the horror sense though, for you will definitely be left disappointed.

ReplyDeleteyeah but what can you expect from a horror film? somehow someway, it has to end badly!
I have to admit, I got stressed with the ending, I didn't like it haha :D
ReplyDeleteHi Carlo,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment! Was it really that stressful? hehe! Again, most horror films end on a bad note, even this one.
On the other hand, Justin Long was brilliant in the last scene!
